“I Don’t Know What Weapons World War 3 Will Be Fought With, But World War 4 Will Be Fought With Sticks and Stones.”
On the rise of misplaced power: “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist”.
Since WW2, the idea of nuclear war and complete annihilation has been at the back of people’s minds, especially those who were alive from the 1960s to the early 1990s. I think back in history and reflect on the moments that could have led the world to a nuclear war between the United States and the U.S.S.R. (Russia) Since then, we have seen pretexts to war etched on the world stage as states that were developing weapons of mass destruction and echoed a sentiment that we, the moral countries of the world had a duty to repell those states from acquiring the A-bomb. Countless innocent people lost their lives, their humanity, and their families in the name of world safety. How many times have we, my country, the United States, provoked wars, invaded other countries for the same sins that we have committed, or have pushed ideas to influence a gullible public into sacrificing themselves to fight for the greater good? It was communism, socialism, then terrorism. It was the authoritarians who bombed Pearl Harbor. It was the communists who wanted to take over the war. That is why we went into Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos to fight for democracy and to combat communism. As it turns out, we were really there to help the French maintain control of the region. It had nothing to do with freedom, democracy, or people. It was all about power and control. Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 had nothing to do with liberation or humanitarian aid. It was all about power and control. It was that thing that President Eisenhower warned us about: The military-industrial complex, where war is bought and sold for profits, power, and control. Why do I mention our history and the wars waged since atomic energy was made into a bomb? Today, it was reported that President Trump ordered the Department of War, or the Military Industrial Complex (Let’s call it what it is), to begin nuclear arms testing. Why is this important? We are at a point in history where the use of nuclear weapons is highly likely, with today’s political and war climate. Mix in a young, old, and mid-aged population who have no idea what nuclear bombs can do, or diehard patriots who are willing to endure the risk, so long as America emerges victorious, or those with no depth of concern as to how far-reaching a nuclear war would be. To me, it is no surprise that there may be video and even more images of the havoc reaped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that were not released to the general public. President Ronald Regan had a change of heart regarding the nuclear arms race that he was also a part of after watching the movie “The Day After.” People may think that a nuclear war would be bad, but some would survive it. Real men and women who live off the grid would survive it. No. One would need to be underground with an endless fuel supply and years-long power generators to keep the power flowing. Many of us would die off in a matter of days, and those who caused this nuclear Armageddon would be living underground at Mount Weather or under the Denver airport (Although this has been labeled a conspiracy) with a select number of political, military, and “important people” who would attempt to run the government after the destruction. Adults, children, animals, buildings, and forests would be reduced to ash for those fortunate enough to be close to ground zero. For those far away from the blast, it would be a slow death of starvation, disease. and homicide. Man would revert to his primitive roots, dodging God knows what as a result of radiation poisoning. Now, in the present, we have the opportunity to stop this insanity. Currently, we have a president who does not weigh or care about the scope that a nuclear war brings to everyday people. Joe Biden is no different. Obama was a wartime president, too. The one difference is that this president has ignited an arms race again by testing nuclear weapons in 2025 and beyond. President Trump has lined his cabinet with war hawks, Israeli fundamentalists, and economic crooks who all stand to profit from war. I ask you, are your children’s lives worth less than your political beliefs? Do you value idols, country, and political rhetoric more than life itself? Are you willing to sacrifice everything you worked for, everything you have ever known, and everyone you ever loved because you are a democrat or a Republican with a bottom line? Then why do you support people who are more concerned with war, immigrants, and foreign governments, like Israel and Argentina? Why do we support politicians who run on hope and change or making America great again when their true interests lie somewhere else? They said they were against WW3, yet they sent long-range weapons to Ukraine with your tax money? They got elected by claiming that they were for the working class and against costly wars, yet they are doing the complete opposite now. I will never understand how some are yearning for war, and how many seem not to care that we are playing with fire with gas-stained hands, and the guy fueling the fire is a pyromaniac. Peace is in the interest of every citizen on Earth. We all need air to breathe, clean water to drink, and a world with breathable oxygen to live. That is the common thread that ties us all together, and nothing is greater than that.
American chemist, Linus Pauling, 1950: Pauling emphasized that an atomic war would be indiscriminate, stating, “The problem of an atomic war must not be confused by minor problems such as Communism versus capitalism. An atomic war would kill everyone, left, right, or center”.
Check out the song by Zager and Evans, titled “In The Year 2525”. It is quite terrifying.
